Who pays in Miami-Dade County

Usually the seller by custom, but negotiable.

What catches people out

Miami-Dade is the only Florida county that works differently. Its base rate is lower than the rest of the state at $0.60 per $100 instead of $0.70, but it adds a $0.45 surtax on everything except a single-family home. A condo pays $1.05 per $100, which is 50 percent more than anywhere else in Florida. The surtax is authorized through October 1, 2031.
